DECARBONIZATION – Ports Towards Transformation to New International Standards
MEDPorts Training Programs are back with its second edition for 2024-2025! This edition starts with a course on Decarbonization developed by Algeciras Bay Port Authority in collaboration with University of Cadiz. The course will provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of the international regulations established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regarding the energy transition of the maritime sector, as well as European Union policies related to maritime transport, including sustainable practices, emission reduction, and port integration. Participants will acquire specific knowledge about the management and operation of the Port of Algeciras, including infrastructure, services, and development strategies. Additionally, the course will cover various alternative fuels for maritime transport, sustainable port operations, and emerging technologies such as hydrogen, examining their potential to decarbonize maritime transport and addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with the energy transition. Skills in transport and logistics corridors for new fuels will also be developed, focusing on established strategies for “green corridors” and logistics for new fuels.
