Participation in Motorways of the Sea’s brainstorming of the European Commission

On Thursday, May 14th, Philippe Guillaumet the General Secretary of the MEDports Association, participated in a brainstorming meeting on the future of the Motorways of the Sea (MoS) organised by the European Commission. Participants included Professor Bodewig Alexio Picco from DocksTheFuture ; Anne Stuhlmann and Isabelle Ryckbost from European Sea Port Organization (ESPO) ; Miglė Kotryna Blusevičiūtė and Nicolette van der Jagt from ClecatJordi Espín Vallbona from Transprime ; Lucas Bosser from Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) ; Martin Dorsman from European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA), Lotte Ockerman from European Transport Workers Federation (EFT) ; Vassia Nikolopoulou, Fabio Rondini and Paris Sansoglou from European Dredging Association (EuDA).

The “Motorways of the Sea” are intermodal logistics chains based on maritime transport in Europe, which should improve our transport organisation in the years to come. Philippe Guillaumet recalled the importance of the work that Europe must do to better integrate the countries around the Mediterranean in the development of the motorways of the sea and the trans-European transport network. So far, the MEDports Association is the largest organisation of its kind and aims to create and deepen this network.
